PO Boxes are Canceled – Here’s Why

Alternative to Amazon Wishlist

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by a PO box. ???

If your freshly manicured tips are still relaxing south of your shoulders, consider yourself fortunate. But listen up, sis, because we’ve got some piping-hot PO box tea to spill.

If you’re a digital creator, influencer, YouTube star, or otherwise gorgeous and talented creature with a major following, you know that super-fans love to show their support by generously offering to send you gifts.

Yes – we’re salty, but we get it: you’re sorry that people are so jealous of you, but you can’t help it that you’re popular. 😏

Cheers to getting gifted! Skip the PO box and instead, raise a glass to a new, luxurious delivery experience.

While at first, getting gifted is all #BLESSED and, “Oh, you shouldn’t have!”, actually receiving that bounty of boxes securely and efficiently requires some preparation. You obviously don’t want to reveal your personal address to the public (def not cute, and def not safe), so you need to receive gift packages via an anonymous mailbox. PO boxes are the standard alternative, but are they the best option?

Mhhh …  it’s a no from us. But allow us to explain: read on for the three biggest reasons why PO boxes are canceled.

  1. You deserve FULL privacy – not partial anonymity.

Renting a PO box will let you keep your home address under wraps, but it won’t keep your location completely anonymous. Unless you strangely enjoy hauling it to a USPS location in a different city to pick up packages, your PO box is probably located at the post office closest to you, so sharing your PO box address will still divulge your hometown and state.

That is – quite literally – too close to home!

While your adoring fans have all the best intentions, you can never be too careful when it comes to your personal safety and security, and that of your loved ones.

Further: while rare, under some circumstances, the USPS can disclose your address.

You deserve an exclusive, elevated gift delivery experience – one that guarantees 100% confidentiality and complete protection of your personal information. To put it a different way: would Beyonce use a PO box? You see what we’re saying. 😉

  1. Don’t get boxed in!

Unfortunately, when it comes to PO boxes, the limit does exist. The largest PO box size available – “XL” – is only 12” x 22.5” x 14.75”. (We just took some quick measurements – that’s roughly the size of our microwave.) So if your devoted fans want to gift you with a set of Louis Vuitton luggage, exercise equipment, a gorgeous framed work of art, or any other supersized item, the package will be rejected. Way harsh – we know!

What’s worse: PO boxes only accept packages sent via USPS. No FedEx, no UPS, no DHL. Sassy, moody, nasty – variety is the spice of life! You and your fans – including international, global gifters! – deserve ALL the delivery options.

A final and insufferable limitation of PO boxes: if you want day to night to morning access, you’re out of luck. Most USPS locations aren’t open 24/7, so you won’t always be able to get your packages when it’s most convenient for you. You’ve got places to be, people to see, selfies to take, DMs to check, and TikToks to post – making time to visit your PO box during “business hours” (eye roll) is a time suck with which you simply can’t be burdened.

  1. There are far better ways to spend $750.

If you’re going to spend money on a metal box, it should be 18-karat gold and made by the House of Mouawad. Annual cost to rent a microwave maximum-size PO box? We just crunched the numbers for our own zip code on USPS.com, and the total is north of $750. While that’s not going to break the bank, we can think of about six dozen better ways to spend that cash (starting with [link to another LuxyList blog about hot new gift suggestions for your wishlist]). Not to sound like your grandpa, but INVEST IN YO-SELF – don’t throw hard-earned cash at a sub-par, cheap metal rental!

Do PO boxes look like tiny jail cells or is it just us?
